This epidemic is the practice of lying and dishonesty. — A lying tongue is not only something God hates, it is also something that is an abomination to Him.These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.1 Corinthians 7:1-2 The dictionary meaning of the word “fornication” means any unlawful sexual intercourse including adultery. Worldly standards or laws many times do not always line up with the Word of God. Societies throughout history and around the globe have embraced sexual standards that are called sins in the Bible. In the Bible, the Greek definition of the word “fornication” means to commit illicit sexual intercourse. The founding fathers of the United States established many laws that were originally based on Christian standards and the laws of the Bible. Fornication is not just tolerated in our society but is actually being encouraged. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
A news organization recently did a survey here in America and asked people several questions to determine the percentage of people who lied or were dishonest about things. However, through time the United States has drifted far from these standards and at the present our moral standards are shocking the world. The sin of fornication is being committed even among Christians, as many couples “live together” and have sex before marriage. We have counseled Christians of the opposite sex who share an apartment and they told us they were not having sex so this surely wasn’t wrong. The Bible declares these words in 1 Thessalonians -23: “Abstain from all appearance of evil." Don't date someone who claims to be a Christian but doesn't live it. "What I meant was that you are not to keep company with anyone who claims to be a brother Christian but indulges in sexual sins, or is greedy, or is a swindler, or worships idols, or is a drunkard, or abusive.Don't even eat lunch with such a person." Avoid dating people who have a bad temper. "Now here is a command, dear brothers, given in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ by his authority: Stay away from any Christian who spends his days in laziness and does not follow the ideal of hard work we set up for you." Inner beauty counts the most. "May God who gives patience, steadiness, and encouragement help you to live in complete harmony with each other—each with the attitude of Christ toward the other." Date someone who encourages you and is supportive. "Is there any such thing as Christians cheering each other up? Does it mean anything to you that we are brothers in the Lord, sharing the same Spirit? Then make me truly happy by loving each other, working together with one heart and mind and purpose. For I admit my shameful deed—it haunts me day and night." Second, Ask forgiveness for your sin—God says you can start over again. "Sprinkle me with the cleansing blood and I shall be clean again. And after You have punished me, give me back my joy again. This is no longer a matter of personal or private faith.
